Slow Foods USA Comes to Denver

If you haven’t heard about this incredible food festival coming to Larimer Square July 13th-15th, well, we don’t know where you’ve been, because this is big, people! Fueling the festival is Slow Food, a global, grassroots organization founded in 1989 “to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat.” The festival itself will feature a host of workshops, talks, tastings and, of course, food. As you can imagine, Urban Farmer is thrilled the organization has chosen Denver as a mainstay for this movement and we’re getting involved!

As one of the festival’s featured Chefs, Executive Chef Chris Starkus will be participating in the following events:

Friday, July 13th from 6-9pm: Urban Farmer will be partnering with Buckner Family Farm to showcase what the Colorado food culture is about and the relationship between Colorado restaurants and Colorado purveyors. Chef Chris will be serving up Pulled Pork Sliders with Colorado coleslaw, cabbage-based green chili, hemp seed, and hemp oil dressing.

Sunday, July 15th 9am-1:30pm: Chef Chris will be showcasing our #MileHighHive, rooftop bee program at the Buzz about Biodiversity Bee Summit.

Sunday, July 15th 1:30pm-2:30pm: Chef Chris and his family will be in the Family Pavilion, teaching attendees how to create seed bombs (an easy way to plant and protect your seeds) using clay, compost, seed, and water.

We hope to see you there!
